High School

A Message from the Principal . . .

The oldest vocational high school in Massachusetts, Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School has built a reputation from its graduates over the past century as being the school to attend if you wish to acquire a technical skill. We are located on a 91-acre campus serving Hampshire county, but we have students attending from as far away as Sturbridge in Worcester County.

There are thirteen vocational-technical programs, attended by over 400 students. We also have a full-scale working farm as part of our agricultural program.

Our academic programs complement our vocational-technical curriculum and are demanding, while offering sufficient diversity to meet our students’ needs. Our students may pursue employment or post-secondary education upon graduation.

We have a variety of extra-curricular and intra-curricular activities as well as quality sports programs, at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School. Students are encouraged to participate in both, as the activities promote positive social behavior as well as provide recreation.

To assist our students in every possible way, we provide support services that include guidance and counseling, an advisor program, community resources through conferences, competitions, assemblies, guest lecturers, and field trips. We also have a Co-operative Work Employment program open to juniors and seniors.

Smith School participates in the High Schools That Work (HSTW) educational initiative. The major goal of HSTW is to raise the academic and technical achievements of our career-bound students. HSTW provides a framework of goals, key practices and key conditions for accelerating learning and setting higher standards.

Please visit us to discover first-hand what we have to offer. Before doing so, study this program of studies so that you may generate questions. We have an outstanding staff who are enthusiastic about what they teach and who will be only too pleased to assist you in your career deliberations.

We look forward to seeing you.

Veronica Carroll
Principal
