By Public Transportation:

BY AIR: Northampton is served by Bradley International Airport, just north of Hartford, CT (38 miles). Buses, taxis and rental cars are available for the fifty-minute drive to Northampton. Logan Airport in Boston is also accessible via the Massachusetts Turnpike (90 miles).

BY TRAIN: AMTRAK trains serve Springfield, Massachusetts, which is only 20 miles south of Northampton. You can continue to Northampton by bus. Ask about it when you buy your train ticket. Taxis and rental cars are also available at the Springfield train station. Call for a schedule - 800-872-7245.

BY BUS: Peter Pan bus lines stop in Northampton several times each day. The bus station is located two blocks from the center of town. Taxis are available at the station. Call for a schedule - 413-586-1030 or 800-343-9999.


BY CAR:

From the South:
Take Interstate 91 North to Exit l8. Make a left at the end of the exit onto Rte. 5, also known as Pleasant St. Follow Pleasant St. to the first traffic light (Main St.) and turn left. Then follow directions "From the center of town" below.

From the North:
Take Interstate 91 south to Exit 20. Merge onto Route 5 , also known as King St. and continue south to the intersection with Route 9 (Main Street) Note: The Calvin Theater will be on your left. Make a right turn at this traffic light. Then follow directions "From the center of town" below.

From the East & West:
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike to Exit 4 and then follow directions "From the South" above.

From the center of town:
Follow Main Street until you reach the first traffic light (South Street & State Street). The Academy of Music will be on your left, and the Northampton Center for the Arts is the 3 story yellow brick building across the street from the Academy (on South Street).

To reach John M. Greene Hall on the Smith College campus, go straight through the traffic light at the corner of South St. and State St. (See above.). Continue up the hill onto Elm Street, which is a continuation of Main Street. (You will pass St. Mary's Church on the right) and proceed through one traffic light. At the next traffic light John M. Greene Hall will be on your left.

PARKING:
There is on-street, metered parking throughout the city, a parking garage and several parking lots . Note that many of the lots have parking stub dispenser machines instead of meters. Parking is free on Sundays (except in the garage) and after 6 pm other days. If you're able and willing to walk just a bit, there is plenty of free parking just a few blocks from downtown.
