Rookies Fantasy Value
Now that the draft has ended, we get a better idea of which rookies may have a chance to make an impact right away. Here are the top 10 rookies in the order I would draft them if my fantasy football draft was today:
1. Reggie Bush, New Orleans, RB - He has to deal with sharing the ball a little with Deuce McAllister, but he's still going to be a stud from the start.
2. Joseph Addai, Indianapolis, RB - We'll see how this plays out, but Addai is the next most likely running back to win a starting job even though he was the fourth taken in the draft.
3. Vernon Davis, San Francisco, TE - There's extra value because he's a TE, but Davis is definitely capable of putting up monster numbers even if your league groups TEs with wide receivers.
4. DeAngelo Williams, Carolina, RB - Obviously, DeShaun Foster will get hurt at some point and Williams will definitely get a shot at some carries.
5. LenDale White, Tennessee, RB - He was just the 45th overall pick, but White is battling for carries with an always-injured Chris Brown and he's going to have a BIG chip on his shoulder after being called lazy by everyone throughout the country this week.
6. Laurence Maroney, New England, RB - Corey Dillon was clearly a step slow last year and we know the coaches will have no problem making Maroney the starter if he's better. Maroney will at least get some catches even if he's just the change-of-pace back this year.
7. Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville, TE - Lewis, who has great hands according to the scouting reports, has value here in TE-only leagues. He'll get some looks in the red zone, at the very least.
8. Chad Jackson, New England, WR - Good size, good speed, good hands. If he can stay focused, Jackson could be a good one right away.
9. Santonio Holmes, Pittsburgh, WR - The first receiver taken should start right away, but I'm ust not sure how many looks he'll get each game with the offense he's in.
10. Maurice Stovall, Tampa Bay , WR - Big target was a late third round pick and is my early sleeper. He could definitely score in the red zone and be a useful guy right away from the Bucs.
