Reactions for Week 14
I spent Sunday in the snow in Orchard Park at the Patriots-Bills game, so reactions for this week are solely from that one.
REACTION 1: The Patriots are so much better with Corey Dillon (NE-RB) relatively healthy and in the backfield. You can see everything open up when Dillon is a play-action threat. Tom Brady (NE-QB) clearly has a better chance of throwing the ball downfield when Dillon is out there.
REACTION 2: If the Bills (4-9) have any chance at Matt Leinhart (USC-QB) or Vince Young (TEXAS-QB) in the first round of this year's NFL Draft, they have to pull the trigger. I know JP Losman (BUF-QB) hasn't exactly had a ton of NFL starts, but he does nothing particularly well and probably isn't a QB you can build around.
REACTION 3: The biggest cheer of the second half came in the fourth quarter when former Bill Doug Flutie (NE-QB) replaced Brady under center. The few remaining Bills fans in the stands had started a "We want Flutie!" chant late in the third and the Patriots fans joined them in it. You'd have thought Flutie was a college walk-on.
REACTION 4: Willis McGahee (BUF-RB) was positively manhandled by the New England run defense, which was fantastic all game. McGahee finished with three yards rushing on eight carries and the NE front seven is clearly becoming a dominant force. The secondary, however, is still shaky, but managed three interceptions off the previously mentioned Losman.
REACTION 5: Nice to see two of the workman-like Patriots catching TD passes. Troy Brown (NE-WR) and Christian Fauria (NE-TE) do a lot of the little things (blocking, returning kicks, etc.) but don't get a lot of print. They each scored on short passes in the second half.
MONDAY NIGHT QUESTIONS
New Orleans at Atlanta, (ABC, 9)
Can the Saints, who clearly seem to have packed it in, do anything against an Atlanta team that desperately needs a win to keep its playoff hopes alive?
Will Michael Vick (ATL-QB) complete enough passes to make Alge Crumpler (ATL-TE), Michael Jenkins (ATL-WR) or any other Falcons receivers worthwhile fantasy scorers this week?
How much thunder (TJ Duckett (ATL_RB)) will we see among the lightning (Warrick Dunn (ATL-RB))?
