Reactions for Week 13

REACTION 1: I know they lost, but you have to wonder if Cleveland Browns fans will someday look back at Sunday remembering the first of many times Charlie Frye (CLE-QB) hooked up with Braylon Edwards (CLE-WR) for two touchdown passes. Frye finished with 226 yards passing and two scores (both to Edwards) in the Browns’ 20-14 loss to Jacksonville. Still, the Jaguars have a pretty good defense and Frye completed 65 percent of his passes (13-for-20) and had zero interceptions. Not bad.

REACTION 2: Speaking of Frye, he was one of four rookie quarterbacks to start Sunday, which is amazing. Along with Frye, No. 1 pick Alex Smith (SF-QB), seventh-round choice Ryan Fitzpatrick (STL-QB) and season-long starter Kyle Orton (CHI-QB) all got starting nods. Only Orton, whose defense may be the best in the NFL, won.

REACTION 3: It was nice to see the Cincinnati Bengals finally win a game against a good team. The Bengals held off an OK Pittsburgh Steelers squad featuring a quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, with a very injured thumb. Still, it’ll be a huge confidence boost for them come playoff time. With the loss, the Steelers are in big trouble. They’re going to have to play fantastic football for the final four weeks to get into the postseason.

REACTION 4: It’s nice to see that Drew Bledsoe (DAL-QB) is just as unreliable as he’s always been. In a big NFC East game against the New York Giants, Bledsoe made bad decision after bad decision and orchestrated one of the worst hurry-up offenses in NFL history. Simply incredible that Patriots fans were once wondering whether they should trade Bledsoe or Tom Brady (NE-QB) following the first Super Bowl win.

REACTION 5: Houston (1-11) narrowly escaped hurting their chances at Reggie Bush (USC-RB) but eventually pulled out the loss to the awful Baltimore Ravens 16-15 Sunday. God help them if Bush decides to stay for his senior year.

TANGENT REACTION: I’m very interested in where Bush will be drafted in next year’s fantasy drafts. Assuming he comes out after this season, isn’t he among the most highly-touted rookies since the explosion of fantasy football? Where does that land him? I suppose it depends on which awful team selects him, but he’s got to be a second or third round pick...Right?

MONDAY NIGHT QUESTIONS
Seattle Seahawks at Philadelphia Eagles (ABC, 9 p.m.)

If Shaun Alexander (SEA-RB) has one of those 175-yard, three TD performances on national TV with Al Michaels and John Madden gushing, does he become the leading contender for the NFL’s MVP?

Can Brian Westbrook (PHI-RB) keep his team (and his fantasy teams) in this game?

Did anyone start Mike McMahon (PHI-QB) this week? If so, what’s wrong with your team? (I guess that’s more rhetorical than anything)

How much better did this game look six weeks ago? (I guess that’s rhetorical too)
