The Gazette's photo choice from the July 4th Red Sox vs. Yankees game on July 4th will likely be a classic because of its many Norman Rockwell like elements. Johnny Damon's V-splayed legs, the home run or not a home run ball sitting on the fence top and the Boston fans raised arms mirroring Damon's legs as another Red Sox fan mouth gapes wide in amazement at the static ball. Yankee fans too appear with wonderous expressions as Mickey Mouse in patriotic Uncle Sam garb on the front of a tee shirt observes the scene.
All in all, in my view, a photo that will be seen again and again. Because, it perhaps the foretells this Yankee season while it carries the promise of a Boston comeback, as they both are , on this 4th of July 2008, chasing the Tampa Rays.

At least I put my name on everything I write, as opposed to anonymous protesters; and I concentrate my criticism on the 'Powers That Be' (or in Awad's case "used to be").

In China if he stood along side a parade with signs denigrating a public official, he would be run over by a tank.

Congratulations to the July 4'th Parade Committee. Having been on the inside for so long, I still don't know how you manage to make it happen.

He only got $5,000 bail set because he's always been one of "Hamburger" Bob Garvey's pet Correctional Officers. Since McNally has 22 years in, I'm sure they'll let him "retire" and he'll get his pension just like any other retiree that was on the straight and narrow.

Interesting also, the article says he's been on "administrative leave" -- I'm sure PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE if Cahillane or Hamburger Bob Garvey had anything to do with it.........

Are you kidding me only $5,000.00 bail set for charges of forcibly raping a minor! How important is the protection of children in this court? If the person charged didn't work for the jail system what would the bail be set at?

Maybe you should listen and read a little more carefully. You do not have the facts right. There really is nothing worse than a know it all who knows nothing. This man admitted to buying the alcohol for the kids. He admitted buying alcohol for kids on at least 11 different occasions. He IS to blame. This man broke the law and a precious 15 year old died because of it. I can't understand anyone defending this man, unless they have bought alcohol for kids themselves, and somehow in their own mind want to try and justify it by putting the blame elsewhere, except on themselves where it belongs. What needs to be done is a stronger enforcement of the law for providing alcohol to minors. It is very rare that you hear of anyone being charged for this offense. And yet every day we see and hear stories of minors dying because of alcohol related events such as drunk driving accidents and alcohol poisoning. The adults that provided the alcohol need to be held accountable to the law.
