Tyler Bergantino turns ankle at UMass basketball practice, status uncertain

UMass coach Derek Kellogg was uncertain about the severity of the injury.

“I’m not sure. I think we’ll know something (Tuesday) after they look at it after a day,” Kellogg said. “It’s wait and see. It didn’t look like it was that bad. But you never know.”

The 6-foot-9 Bergantino had one point and five rebounds in 16 minutes of Saturday’s exhibition win over American International College.

SUSPENDED PLAYERS RETURN — Jesse Morgan, Cady Lalanne and Trey Davis were all back at practice Monday after being held out of Saturday’s scrimmage against American International for a violation of undisclosed team rules.

“They’re working their way back. They’re pushing forward. They practiced today and did a little extra running before practice. That may go on until I feel like their legs have felt the brunt of it,” Kellogg said. “I want to stay on them a little bit. They’re kind of back full time, but I want them to run a little bit to make sure they keep the brotherhood at the top of their mind.”
