UMass women’s soccer team eliminated in Atlantic 10 tournament
The University of Massachusetts women’s soccer team was eliminated from the Atlantic 10 tournament via an opening round 4-1 loss to Dayton in Kingston, R.I., Thursday.
Moa Mattson scored her team-high 12th goal of the season off an assist from Grace Coombs for the Minutewomen (9-10-1).
Emily Cota and Stephanie Gordon combined to make seven aves for UMass.
Elms College 5, Becker 4 — Kayla Narey of South Hadley scored her second goal of the game with 28 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Blazers (8-11) in the NECC tournament semifinals in Chicopee.
Elms, which has won its most games in a season since 1994, will play for the title Saturday at Anna Maria College at 1 p.m.
Westfield State 3, MLCA 0 — Stana Wheeler of Sunderland recorded 33 assists and eight digs as the Blazers (10-21) dominated 25-8, 25-13, 25-14 in the MSCAC quarterfinals at home.
The No. 3 Owls play No. 2 Bridgewater State at Framingham State in the semifinals Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner advances to the finals Saturday at 3 p.m.
