Thursday’s high schools: Northampton field hockey finishes off perfect Central Division
Emily Allcroft and Alex Dibrindisi each scored as the Northampton field hockey team blanked South Hadley 2-0 on the road Thursday.
The Blue Devils (12-4-2, 8-0 Central) capped a perfect league record with the win in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Missie Maiewski had an assist, while Dana Dufour made 19 saves.
Sam Brault made 25 saves for the Tigers (6-10-2, 4-2-2).
Amherst 0, Westfield 0 — Nadia Squitiero had 13 saves and the Hurricanes (4-13-1, 0-8-1 South) battled to a scoreless draw with Westfield.
Smith Academy 4, Holyoke Catholic 0 — Keith Natale scored twice to help lead the Falcons (9-6-3, 4-2-2 McGrath South) to a win on senior day.
Derek McMahon and Quinn Rickert each had a goal and an assist for Smith. Tyler Gay picked up a pair of assists, while Cam Woodward made two saves.
Tom Heavren stopped six shots for the Gaels (9-7-2, 1-6-1).
Hopkins Academy 3, Frontier Regional 0 — Paul Delamy had a goal and two assists as the Golden Hawks (16-1-1, 7-1 Schmid) closed the regular season with the win in South Deerfield.
Tyler Szymkowicz and Evan Delaney each scored once, while Jake Kosakowski added one assist.
Ben Pitta made five saves in the shutout.
Dylan Husted stopped six shots for the Red Hawks (6-8-2, 3-4-1).
West Springfield 4, Amherst Regional 1 — Ian Robson scored from Eric Gooden, but a 4-0 hole was too much for the Hurricanes (10-3-4) to dig out of.
Mike Rock (three saves) and Matt Santana (five saves) split time in net for Amherst.
Athol 4, Easthampton 0 — Brady Parker made 10 saves but the Eagles (1-13-1, 0-8-0 Schmid) fell on the road.
Northampton 2, Longmeadow 1 — Lauren McGrath led the way for Northampton with an incredible bicycle kick goal in the 33rd minute, and the Blue Devils (4-11-3, 3-4-1 Kurty-Fielding) won on the road.
Erica Dean also scored, while Abby Springfield added an assist.
Rose Katz-Berger played well with 10 saves.
Belchertown 7, East Longmeadow 0 — Brittany Moreau (assist), Breanne Moreau (two assists) and Kayla Henry each had two goals as the Orioles (16-0-1) cruised on the road.
Lauren Leblanc had on goal, while Mackenzie Yelle and Lauryn Parent each had one assist.
Sarah LaClair made six saves in the shutout.
Sabis 3, Easthampton 1 — Hajar Akanour had six kills and five digs but the Eagles (5-11, 2-6 Southern) fell 25-10, 18-25, 25-10, 25-12 at home.
Caelin Mottor added three kills, three digs and an ace. Kate Avard also played well with three kills, five assists, and one ace.
Chicopee 3, South Hadley 0 — Maddi Kelleher had six kills, 13 digs and four saves but the Tigers (7-11) fell 25-22, 25-23, 25-18.
