JT York launched a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to left the Southampton Little League (13/14-year-old) team to a 16-15 victory at Orange in the opening game of the state sectional tournament Thursday evening.

Trailing by a run and down to three outs, Hunter Brooks (3-for-5, RBI) doubled to center to lead off the inning and set up York’s heroics.

Matt Babyak (double, two walks, two RBIs), Collin Touchette (hit, RBI) and Eric Trotman (two-run hit) delivered key hits for the District 2 champions.

Orange led 6-1 after two innings, but Southampton responded with seven in the third to take its first lead.

Southampton, which has won the Western Massachusetts title four of the last five years, avenged its 25-6 loss to Orange in the first round of last season’s sectionals.

Ben Fitzpatrick started on the mound and returned in the bottom of the sixth to pick up the win.
