Northampton’s Adrienne Pascucci leads WMass Heptathlon after Day 1
Recent Northampton graduate Adrienne Pascucci is in first place after Day 1 of the Western Massachusetts Heptathlon Wednesday.
Pascucci, who won the championship last season, won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.10 seconds at Northampton High School.
The event drew 50 athletes to compete in seven events. The 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash was held Wednesday. The long jump, javelin and 800 will be held Thursday.
Northampton’s Leah Tompkins won the high jump at 5 feet, 1∕2 inch.
Frontier’s Amanda Mozea won the shot put in 34-93∕4.
Frontier freshman Kat Miner won the 200 in 26.60 seconds.
Competition will resume at 4 p.m. today.
The Western Mass. Decathlon was held at Monson earlier this week.
Amherst placed third with 12,571 points. Monson won followed by Mohawk.
Trevor Lewicki, of Holyoke Catholic, was third with 4,804 points.
Allen Vance was Amherst’s top finisher. He placed eighth with 4,622 points.
Northampton’s Aidan Gilson was 11th with 4,421.
