Thursday’s high schools: Eddie Hagelstein collects 100th hit for Hampshire Regional

Hampshire Regional senior Eddie Hagelstein picked up his 100th career hit on Thursday afternoon as the Raiders defeated Sci-Tech 7-3 in Springfield.

Hagelstein drove in a run in the win for Hampshire (8-8, 7-6 Bi-County). Christian Macutkiewicz doubled, tripled and knocked in three, while Nick Batchelder added an RBI on a pair of hits.

Colton Delisle threw four hitless innings of relief to earn the victory. He struck out four.

Frontier Regional 15, Mahar 9 — The Red Hawks put up eight runs in the first two innings and went on to the win in Orange.

Rylan Baronas had three hits and five RBIs to lead a 17-hit attack for Frontier. Ryan Hoar (three RBIs) hit a two-run home run as part of a two-hit game, while Sean Doyle (three hits), Sam Tillona (two hits) and Niko Ames (triple) added an RBI apiece.

Matt Ackerman pitched the first four innings and struck out two for the win on the mound.

South Hadley 4, Central 3 — Nate Roback allowed one run on only two hits in five innings to earn the win at home for the Tigers (4-13, 2-6 Suburban).

Joe Ciolek had two hits, an RBI and a run for South Hadley. Nate Flachs scored twice with a hit, while Pedro Santiago also scored a run.

Southwick 14, Holyoke Catholic 0 — The Gaels (2-15, 2-13 Bi-County) were held without a hit at home by Rams pitcher Bob Hamel, who struck out 12 in seven innings.

Will Kennedy and Nate Laprade combined for three scoreless innings of relief for Catholic.

Pathfinder 14, Smith Vocational 1 — Jason Talbot walked, stole two bases and scored the lone run for the Vikings (0-16) on the road.

Dustin Parczyk, Jacob Opalenik and Cullen Pike had the hits for Smith Voke.

Softball

Palmer 12, Holyoke Catholic 0 (5) — Lindsey Robins had a fifth-inning single for the only hit in the road loss for the Gaels (7-9, 2-8 Bi-County East).

Krista Jasak struck out a pair in a complete game for Catholic.

Longmeadow 2, Northampton 1 — The Lancers scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to snatch a win back from the Blue Devils.

Mary Greco allowed two runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out four for the Blue Devils (11-6, 2-3 Suburban). She scored the lone Hamp run in the first, scoring from third on a passed ball. Emilie Baldwin added two hits for Northampton.

Putnam 16, Smith Vocational 3 — The Beavers scored six runs in the first and fourth innings leaving the Vikings with too large a deficit to overcome. The loss eliminated Smith from postseason contention.

Natasha Cintron had two hits for the Vikings (6-9, 6-8 Tri-County), while Rita Whitney and Priscilla Sepulveda each had a hit and scored a run.

Girls lacrosse

Longmeadow 15, Northampton 0 — The Blue Devils fell behind 8-0 at halftime as the Lancers cruised in Northampton.

The loss leaves Hamp at 8-8. It will have to win one of its two remaining games — at Brattleboro and at Longmeadow — to earn a postseason berth.

East Longmeadow 16, Amherst 6 — Sarah Mangels had three goals, Meghan Sharick (assist) had two and Leah Goldman (assist) one but the Hurricanes (3-13) fell at home.

Taylor Bartmon had one assist, while Katie Dunn made eight saves in defeat.

Boys lacrosse

Westfield 6, Northampton 1 — Tyler Walsh made 14 saves in goal but the Blue Devils (8-8, 2-8 Valley Wheel) dropped back to .500 with the road loss.

Will Lombardi scored the goal for Hamp.
