Williston girls basketball team rallies for win over Ethel Walker
The Williston Northampton girls basketball team outscored Ethel Walker by 12 in the second half to turn a three-point halftime lead into a 45-30 victory Wednesday at Simsbury, Conn.
Natalia Ovando led the Wildcats (2-0) with a game-high 17 points, while Elizabeth Calderone of Whately and Mary McCarthy each added eight in the win.
Wilbraham & Monson 74, Williston 35 — The Wildcats (2-1) allowed 37 points in each half in the loss Wednesday in Wilbraham.
Maxwell Risch scored a team-high eight points for Williston, while Joey O’Connell of Hatfield had four points for Wilbraham.
Cushing 3, Williston 1 — Delaney Belinskas scored to tie the game, but the Wildcats allowed the final two goals in a home loss Wednesday.
Maddy Jerolman and Alex Starzyk assisted on Belinskas’ tally, while Sydney Belinskas made 15 saves in net for Williston.
Hopkins 99, Williston 79 — David Fitch took home victories in two events, but the Wildcats lost at home Wednesday.
Fitch won the 200 freestyle (2:04.93) and the 500 free (5:34.0). Also winning for Williston were Ben Spruck in the 100 free at 56.67, and Matt Wagman in the 100 breast with a time of 1:20.29.
Hopkins 85, Williston 78 — Natalie Aquadro won a pair of events in the home loss for the Wildcats on Wednesday.
Aquadro took first in both the 100 freestyle (59.23) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.53). Maddy Stern won the 100 back in 1:14.31.
Williston 4, St. Mark’s 3 — Oliver Demers of Easthampton and David Fay of South Hadley won their individual matches to help lead the Wildcats (1-0) to a season-opening victory Wednesday in Easthampton.
Loomis Chaffee 7, Williston 0 — The Wildcats (0-2) dropped all seven matches Wednesday in the loss at Windsor, Conn.
