Wednesday’s colleges: Smith College handles WPI
Rosa Drummond had 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Smith College basketball team beat WPI 76-55 Wednesday in Worcester.
The Pioneers (21-3, 15-2 NEWMAC) earned the No. 2 seed in next week’s conference tournament with the victory.
Paulina Solis added 13 points and six steals, while Devon Quattrocchi and Sydney Parkmond combined for 23 points and nine rebounds.
Amherst 65, Middlebury 45 — Megan Robertson (18 points), Bridget Crowley (12) and Jasmine Hardy (12) each reached double figures as the No. 6 Lord Jeffs (23-1, 9-1 NESCAC) cruised past the Panthers, who beat Amherst earlier in the season.
Amherst finished tied with Tufts and Williams for first place in the league. The conference tournament’s No. 1 seed went to Tufts. Amherst is No. 2.
Springfield College 55, Mount Holyoke 38 — Angelica Pascual and Amber Legare each had 14 points in the loss for the Lyons (5-17, 3-14 NEWMAC).
