Colleges: Aaron Toomey leads Amherst men’s basketball past Colby

Led by Aaron Toomey’s 34 points, the Amherst College men’s basketball team cruised past Colby 98-75 Saturday at home.

Toomey added five rebounds and six assists for the Lord Jeffs (15-2, 5-0 NESCAC).

Northampton’s Willy Workman had two points, seven rebounds and seven assists for Amherst.

Women’s basketball

Amherst 69, Colby 60 — The Lord Jeffs (17-0, 5-0 NESCAC) stayed unbeaten after a win Saturday at home.

Marcia Voigt led Amherst with 18 points.

St. Bonaventure 61, UMass 49 — Kiara Bomben scored 12 but the Minutewomen (3-15, 1-2 A-10) lost on the road Saturday.

Rashida Timbilla added six points and nine rebounds for UMass.

Smith College 58, MIT 46 — Devon Quattrocchi scored a career-high 20 points for the Pioneers (14-2, 9-1 NEWMAC) Saturday at home.

Wellesley 65, Mount Holyoke 35 — The Lyons couldn’t stay with Wellesley on the road Saturday.

Kate Karraker scored 12 points for Mount Holyoke (4-11, 2-8 NEWMAC).

Men’s hockey

Amherst 4, St. Michael’s 1 — The Lord Jeffs (10-4-2, 6-3-1 NESCAC) scored four unanswered to beat St. Michael’s on the road Saturday.

Michael Cashman, Patrick Arena, Chris Finch and Andrew Kurlandski scored for Amherst.

Men’s swimming & diving

UMass 185, Bryant University 104 — The Minutemen won 16 out of 17 events Saturday at home.

Beau Garufi won the 100-yard breaststroke (59.38) for UMass.

Amherst 193, Hamilton 96 — Conor Deveney led the Lord Jeffs in their rout of Hamilton Saturday at home.

Deveney won the 50 free (21.97) and the 100 back (53.12).

Women’s swimming & diving

UMass 180, Bryant 119 — The Minutewomen dominated Bryant at home Saturday.

Katie Arnott swept the backstroke events for UMass, winning the 100 (1:06.75) and the 200 (2:24.51).

Amherst 180, Hamilton 106 — The Lord Jeffs won at home Saturday.

Freshman Sarah Conklin won the 100 butterfly (57.90) for Amherst.

Men’s squash

Amherst 9, Hamilton 0; Harvard 9, Amherst 0; Wesleyan 5, Amherst 4; Amherst 9; Boston University 0 — The Lord Jeffs went 2-2 over the weekend at home.

Women’s squash

Amherst 8, Hamilton 1; Harvard 9, Amherst 0; Amherst 7, Wesleyan 2 — Amherst spilt a pair on Saturday then beat Wesleyan at home Sunday.

Northeastern 6, Smith College 2; Haverford 9, Smith College 0 — The Pioneers lost twice at the Pioneer Valley Invitational hosted by Mount Holyoke over the weekend.

Mount Holyoke 7, Wellesley 2; Wesleyan 5, Mount Holyoke 4 — The Lyons went 1-1 in the Pioneer Valley Invitational held at Mount Holyoke.
