Amherst College women’s basketball defeats Eastern Connecticut

The ninth-ranked Amherst College women’s basketball team used a 14-3 second-half run to pull away from Eastern Connecticut and win 65-55 Thursday in Amherst.

Marcia Voigt had 15 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Bridget Crowley added 14 points and seven boards for Amherst.

Megan Robertson shot 6 for 11 for 13 points and added eight rebounds and three blocks, while Jasmine Hardy chipped in with 11 points.

Amherst native Brianna Leonard had 13 points and four rebounds for the Warriors (2-6).

Smith College 74, Coast Guard 57 — Devon Quattrocchi scored a career-high 20 points as the Pioneers (6-1, 4-0 NEWMAC) won their fourth straight.

Sydney Parkmond, Amanda Zakoske and Alyssa Barrett each had 10 points in the win.

Men’s basketball

Babson 78, Amherst 70 — The Beavers knocked down 12 3-pointers to snap the 10th-ranked Lord Jeffs’ 35-game LeFrak Gymnasium win streak.

David Kalema had 15 points, while Connor Green (13), Allen Williamson (11) Aaron Toomey (12) also reached double figures.

Toomey is now just four points away from becoming just the 25th player in program history to join the 1,000-point club.

Peter Kaasila rounded out the group of Jeffs in double figures with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
