UMass women’s basketball team holds off Ohio
Freshman Rashida Timbilla had 16 points and 13 rebounds as the University of Massachusetts women’s basketball team held off Ohio University 65-61 Thursday in Athens, Ohio.
Emily Mital added 13 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Minutewomen (2-5), who earned their first road win of the season.
UMass went on a 9-2 run late in the second half to take a 60-52 lead.
The Bobcats (1-4) recovered and pulled within 62-59 with 1 minutes, 16 seconds left. Following a UMass miss, Ohio had a chance to tie but Mital poked the ball away then knocked down two free throws to seal the win.
UMass played without senior center Jasmine Watson, who missed the game with concussion-related symptoms.
