Smith College field hockey cruises; Allie Stein moves up scoring list

Allie Stein had two goals and four assists as the Smith College field hockey beat Daniel Webster 7-0 Wednesday in Northampton.

Stein moved into second place on the career scoring list with the eight points. With 18 goals and 13 assists this season, she now has 43 tallies and 24 helpers for 110 points.

Grace Maliska had two goals, while Alexa DeJesus, Rebeca Meagher and Marissa Vara also scored.

Nora Demick made no saves in the shutout for Smith (5-5).

The Eagles (0-7) are coached by former Pioneer Phoebe Hopkins.

UConn 2, UMass 0 — Sam Carlino made six saves but the Minutewomen (5-7) fell to the No. 3-ranked Huskies (12-0) at home.

Women’s soccer

Westfield State 2, Trinity 0 — Sarah Sypek of Westhampton assisted Kayley Miller on her 100th career point as the Owles (11-0-1) won in Westfield.
