Friday’s colleges: Amherst College women’s hoop stays perfect

Savannah Holness had 18 points as the sixth-ranked Amherst College women’s basketball team beat Hamilton 50-43 in Clinton, N.Y. Friday.

Marcia Voigt had 16 points and five rebounds, while Bridget Crowley added 10 rebounds for the Lord Jeffs (14-0, 3-0 NESCAC).

Men’s basketball

Amherst 79, Hamilton 77 — Peter Kaasila (21 points) capped a 6-0 closing run with the game-winning basket with two seconds left as theNo. 21 Lord Jeffs (12-2, 3-0 NESCAC) won in Clinton, N.Y.

Willy Workman of Northampton had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Connor Green added 15 points.

Aaron Toomey chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Women’s hockey

Amherst 1, Middlebury 1 — Erin Martin scored with 31 seconds left as the Lord Jeffs (7-4-1, 5-1-1 NESCAC) pulled out a point against the No. 4 Panthers (8-1-2, 5-0-2).

Men’s hockey

Amherst 6, Tufts 2 — Andrew Kurlandski had two goals and one assist as the No. 9 Lord Jeffs (9-4-1 (6-3-0 NESCAC) won at home.
