Willy Workman leads Amherst College basketball to win at Connecticut
Willy Workman of Northampton had 18 points for the Amherst College men’s basketball team in a 77-67 win over Connecticut College Saturday in New London, Conn.
Workman added six rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals for the No. 22 Lord Jeffs (11-2, 2-0 NESCAC).
Amherst went 12-for-23 on 3-pointers, led by Workman’s 4-for-5 effort.
Salem State 94, Westfield State 77 — Northampton native Grant Cooper scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Owls (9-3) in a loss Saturday in Salem.
Women’s basketball
Mount Holyoke 51, Wheaton 49 — Kate Karraker hit a big 3-pointer late to give the Lyons (3-7) a late lead in Saturday’s win at home.
Karraker led all scorers with 17 points including making five of seven from behind the arc.
Amherst 50, Connecticut College 48 — The Lord Jeffs (12-0, 2-0) got 15 points from Jasmine Hardy in Saturday’s win in New London, Conn.
Marcia Voight added 13 for No. 7 Amherst.
Smith 82, Wellesley 73 (OT) — Rosa Drummond scored a season-high 26 points as the Pioneers (10-1, 5-0 NEWMAC) extended their winning streak to eight at home Saturday.
Devon Quattrocchi added 14 points and four assists.
Westfield State 64, Salem State 53 — Forbasaw Nkamebo of Amherst scored 10 points in a road win for the Owls (9-5) Saturday.
Men’s hockey
Amherst 3, Colby 0 — Dave Cunningham faced just four shots on goal as the Lord Jeffs (8-4-1, 5-3) earned the shutout Saturday at Orr Rink.
Mike Moher, Conor Brown and Andrew Kurlandski scored for No. 10 Amherst.
Women’s hockey
Amherst 2, Colby 1 — Keri Stuart made 29 saves for the Lord Jeffs (7-4, 5-1) in the win Saturday in Waterville, Maine.
Ashley Salerno and Tori Salmon scored for Amherst.
Men’s swimming & diving
Williams 157, Amherst 86 — Asher Lichtig took first in the one-meter dive (333.83) and the three-meter dive (328.13) but the Lord Jeffs lost Saturday in Williamstown.
Women’s swimming & diving
Williams 187, Amherst 107 – Katie Vincett and Lulu Belak had wins in the 50-yard free and the 100-yard free but the Jeffs lost Saturday in Williamstown.
Lizzy Linsmayer took first in the one-meter dive.
