Granby wrestler James Cupak earns 100th career victory

James Cupak of Granby won his 100th career match at the Tiger Duals wrestling meet on Saturday in South Hadley.
Cupak defeated Northampton’s John Grimaldi 5-3 to reach the milestone. The Rams defeated the Blue Devils 45-36.
Cupak, a senior who competes at 195 pounds, also earned win No. 101 with a pin over Luis Castro in Granby’s 51-30 loss to Dean Tech. He didn’t wrestle in his team’s 54-21 loss to Wayland.
Nolan Hodgins (170) had a pin in each match for the Rams, while Victor Magalhaes added two wins by fall.
Hampshire Regional, meanwhile, enjoyed a 4-0 day.
The Raiders beat Sabis (47-18), Pathfinder (54-21), Monument Mountain (48-33) and South Hadley (56-15).
Frankie Weir (170) led the Hampshire with four wins and three pins. Brendan Weir (120) added four wins with two coming by pin.
John Lachowicz (220) had three wins with two pins for Hampshire.
Northampton went 1-2-1 on the day.
The Blue Devils beat Monument Mountain (43-33). Northampton lost to Wayland (47-24) and Granby (45-36).
The draw came against Sabis (42-42).
Harrison Tremaine (220) led the Blue Devils with four wins all by pin. Nick Day (285) had three wins by pin for Northampton.
Alex Smith-Bove (182) notched two wins by pin.
