People from around New England converged on the Hadley Town Common on June 1 for the annual “WGBY Asparagus Festival.” The day got off to a bright and early start with a yoga class for all ages and abilities, while vendors — including those who were there to sell Hadley’s famed asparagus — were setting up for the crowds. The day’s entertainment featured music by the David Wax Museum band, a guinea pig petting pen, an assortment of insects from the Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory in South Deerfield, and face painting for the kids. The fashion-forward in the crowd donned asparagus hats — and for those willing to try a new tasting experience, there was asparagus and almond ice cream.
