James Maiewski: Thanks Northampton for keeping bike paths clear

To the editor:

I wish to express sincere and copious gratitude for the workers and taxpayers of Northampton responsible for keeping the bike paths clear. After snow-clogged paths in Hadley sent me out to brave the streets in and around the malls, I was preparing myself for a similar (unwanted) adventure in Northampton. What a marvelous solstice present it was to find them perfectly navigable. Yet anther reason make Northampton my preferred shopping destination.

It's the best!! Every day many folks walk, bike ride and run on the paths...away from cars on already narrow roadways! Thanks for allowing folks to be safe!

Yes James, it is ironic that the path owned/managed by DCR doesn't plow their path here, but in the Boston area, most DCR paths are plowed. check this link. http://www.masspaths.net/snow/pl131217.htm Also, the plowed path here in Northampton has led to the plowing of paths in other places--including Arlington and Lexington on the Minuteman Trail. thanks again for noticing. thanks for your comments.
