As far as Retreat goes, we reap what we sow
To the editor:
It’s not too late for the public to change its plan.
In a letter to the editor, Cowls is criticized for their “cold blooded” efforts in developing their land holdings in North Amherst. The writer also describes the once-crowded Cowls parking lot as starting to resemble a ghost town. In the meantime, I wonder how many former Cowls customers have left our town and are contributing to the thriving parking lots of Lowes and Home Depot in Hadley?
I admit I do not know enough about the Retreat plan to comment on its merits or shortcomings but I do know something about the delicate balance between business and agriculture in Amherst. Whether we are farmers, business people, students or academics, we reap what we sow.
Until now I haven’t heard that Cowls has been a bad neighbor to the town. Have we been good neighbors to Cowls?
