Jannine Covelli: Thanks to Bill Arnold for ‘surprise’ photographs
To the editor:
It was one of those mornings. The kind that could drive even the strongest back under the covers. My mood was such that the smell of fresh coffee, normally pleasant, seemed bitter. But I grabbed a cup, made my way out to the porch and picked up the morning paper. Even the sunny area I sat in seemed shady and the headlines did nothing to encourage a change of heart.
I opened the paper and out slid a horizontal booklet. Wow, who the heck would spend this much just to advertise but wait ... it was not a 50 percent off sale but an “unexpected” “surprise.”
Strange how blue the sky and how warm the sun became as I looked through Bill Arnold’s black and white photographs (Sept. 20). I just wanted Mr. Arnold and the Gazette to know that the insert not only gave visual joy but also a sweet happiness to the soul. I hope the Gazette will again “surprise” us with another insert. Thank you Mr. Arnold.
