Jeff Lacy: Care for animals touching, but is it fair to homeowner?
To the editor:
Your story, “Cloa’s Ark has a tale with every tail” (Gazette, April 22), was a touching profile of a couple dedicated to the welfare of the animals in their care. However, the story doesn’t quite tell the whole tale.
Did anyone notice the photo of the goat, the one inside the house with poop on the floor? This is not their house, mind you, but a rented house. In fact, it is someone else’s home who had no idea farm animals were being kept inside over the winter.
This appears to be a case where animal rights activists, in their single-minded zeal, have forgotten about the humans in their midst. I’ve bumped up against this kind of oblivious behavior myself; it does nothing to advance the cause of animal rights.
