If Benghazi was mistake, what about Beirut in ’83?

To the editor:

If the Republicans are really upset about four Americans dying in Benghazi as the result of presidential negligence, and not just being shamelessly partisan, why weren’t they calling for “Watergate-style hearings” in 1983 when 241 servicemen were killed in Beirut in what remains the largest single-day loss of life in the history of the U.S. military since World War II?

Then-President Ronald Reagan refused to move them to a safer location despite repeated warnings by his defense secretary, Caspar Weinberger. ... I guess I answered my own question.
