To the editor:

Kudos to Debra Scherban for her fine coverage of the location dilemma facing Amherst Media, to which I had paid little attention, mostly because I had been to its media center only once for a technical instruction. As of this fall, however, I am there on a weekly basis for a Five College Learning in Retirement seminar on sports and society.

The program has held many seminars there before. The staff, especially Jim Lescault, were warm and welcoming, and offered all kinds of tech help.

The conference room where we meet is sunny and quiet, with extremely comfortable chairs. I received immediate assistance with the future projection of a PowerPoint presentation (which for us antediluvian types is often a real relief) on one of their big-screen TVs and so I will go into my presentation with calm nerves and enthusiasm for my topic.

This center is a wonderful resource for Amherst and neighboring towns. I hope local bankers will agree.
