Dave King: GOP ruthless in its hatred of Obama
Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-Ohio, talks to reporters about the deadline to fund the government and the fight among House Republicans, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013. House Republicans vowed Wednesday to pass legislation that would prevent a partial government shutdown and avoid a default while simultaneously canceling out President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, inaugurating a new round of political brinkmanship as critical deadlines approach. To the editor:
The GOP is threatening to shut down the government and crash the economy unless the Affordable Care Act is repealed or defunded.
They claim this is to rein in spending, however, it has been demonstrated the rate of increase of health care costs has slowed under “Obamacare” and also that President Obama’s policies are reducing the federal deficit faster than any president in half a century. Since the cost of Obamacare is not really an issue, why is the GOP being so obstructive?
It is hard to imagine that anyone could be so ruthless as to inflict the cost of economic collapse on the American people in order to deny President Obama a policy victory.
