Molly Feinstein: Northampton’s BID keeps downtown thriving
To the editor:
A sincere thank you to the Northampton Business Improvement District for its role in clearing the snow from downtown Northampton following this month’s historic storm. With thanks to its hard work and timely response, the sidewalks downtown were walkable on Sunday.
I am grateful every day to live in a town like no other. Within the span of a couple of blocks you can eat a delicious meal, view a new art installation or hear a new band. We are fortunate to have almost everything we could imagine in our own backyard, and the BID is integral in helping us to maintain this incredibly special place.
The BID accomplishes its mission of creating a safe, vibrant, clean and economically thriving downtown through programming, beautification and collective advocacy. The evidence of that mission is obvious with a short walk down Main Street.
So thank you, Northampton BID. Thank you for cheerful planters, clean sidewalks and twinkling holiday lights, for chalk art, ice art, Restaurant Week and Sidewalk Sales. Northampton is our home. It is where we work hard, day in and day out, to keep our businesses interesting and relevant. Thank you for working with the downtown community to help Northampton continue to thrive.
