No purpose served with assault victim’s photo

To the editor:

While I certainly am sorry that Daniel Couchon suffered extensive facial injuries from his assault and continues to be in pain, I fail to understand how publishing a close-up photograph of his injuries will help to locate his assailant. A police sketch would have been a better choice to include with this article — both for the sake of the investigation as well as of those of us who read the paper over breakfast.
