Dining for Women goals  are international

To the editor:

We were thrilled to see the article by Scott Merzbach describing the work of Dining for Women and the visit to Amherst by the group’s founder, Marsha Wallace. With sincere thanks to Merzbach for his support, we just want to clarify that DFW funds programs in the three countries he mentioned (Vietnam, Kenya and Cambodia) as well as many others. Just this year alone, DFW will direct monies to organizations improving the lives of women and girls in Nepal, Guatemala, Iberia, Sierra Leone, India, Indonesia, Ecuador and Burma.

Through the power of collective giving, DFW, with its more than 250 chapters in the U.S., and increasingly throughout the world, has raised more than $1.5 million dollars, one potluck at a time. We encourage Gazette readers to check out the website, diningforwomen.org .
