Move Brown’s Senate seat to other party

To the editor:

The recent flurry of TV political spots, where Sen. Scott Brown seeks to stop any references to him as a Republican, is very interesting to me.

He is a very junior Republican senator, not a Democrat or an independent. Based on his votes and speeches on the floor he is aware of and comfortable supporting the positions of his party leadership. He does not chart a more socially caring position when he is not in a re-election campaign.

It seems clear to me that if he remains in the Senate, he will vote with the Republican leadership the vast majority of the time. So if you, for example, favor judicial appointments like justices Scalia, Thomas and Alito you should vote Republican. Sen. Brown doesn’t want us to consider this.

I prefer Elizabeth Warren for many reasons, but the fact that she is a Democrat in these polarized times is a major one.

Norman D. Brown
