SOUTHAMPTON — The Opa Opa Steakhouse and Brewery on College Highway is up for sale for $799,000.

The listing on Canon Real Estate’s website describes the offer as a “unique opportunity” with “many possibilities.”

The business, on-site brewery equipment, building, land and liquor license are included, according to the listing. It also touts the property’s location in a high-traffic area along Route 10.

The space is over 6,000 square feet and includes a kitchen, bar area with dining booths and a large dining room, as well as a seasonal open-air deck with bar and seating, the listing says. The site has parking for over 80 vehicles.

Brothers Tony and Efthimios Rizos opened the Western-themed restaurant and brewery in 2004, along with Tony Rizos’s godfather Chris Mirisis and Peter Kantos.

Attempts to reach the Rizos brothers were unsuccessful over the last several days.

The brothers came to America from Greece in 1986 to “pursue the American dream,” they told the Gazette for a 2007 article. Tony Rizos said he arrived with $32 in his pocket.

In 1992, the brothers took ownership of Red Rock Pizza in Southampton. In 2012, they purchased the entire Red Rock Shops plaza for $2.85 million.

In 2007, Opa Opa built a 4,000-square-foot brewery in Williamsburg. That brewery is now operated by Brewmaster’s Brewing Services, which does contract brews for companies like Brewmaster Jack as well as Opa Opa, according to brewer Dennis Bates.

Bates, who was also a brewer at Opa Opa’s Southampton brewery, said the Opa Opa beer is also brewed at the steakhouse. Bates said Brewmaster’s Brewing will continue brewing Opa Opa beer.

The Southampton site was home to the historic Red Basket from 1953 to 2003. The family-owned restaurant gained recognition when scenes from the 1960s film “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

Chad’s Trading Post and Restaurant moved into the location in 2003 for about a year, but closed after problems with the septic system.
