Three Stars - Rhode Island

For every UMass men's basketball game this season, I'll be giving out three stars to the top three performers from the Minutemen and keeping track of who earns the most three star points over the course of the season.I'm putting a little extra weight on No. 1. So a No. 1 star is worth 5 points. A No. 2 is worth three and a No. 3 is worth 2.

Three Stars from UMass vs. Rhode Island

No. 1 - Ricky Harris - The slump is over. The Minuteman senior is going down swinging.

No. 2 - Sean Carter -The junior big man is making an impact again.

No. 3 - Javorn Farrell - Six points, eight rebounds, four assists. He's the glue guy doing the little things it takes to win. There aren't enough people doing the big things yet.

It's worth noting why Anthony Gurley didn't get a star here despite 15 points. He was invisible to 36 minutes and was benched for part of those. His little uprising started with some selfish shots, a three (he's not a good 3-point shooter)  on the break with an open teammate under the basket. It wreaked of "If we're going to lose, I might as well get my points."

Season-to-date points:

Ricky Harris - 48
Anthony Gurley - 40
Terrell Vinson - 26
Freddie Riley - 18
Sean Carter - 16
Javorn Farrell - 15
Hashim Bailey - 15
Sampson Carter - 8
Gary Correia - 5
David Gibbis-2
Matt Hill - 2
