Three Stars from BC and some observations.
I'm not totally sure what conclusions if any to draw from this game. If UMass makes a couple open threes or turns the ball over a few fewer times and it might have won the game. So in that sense its a disappointing loss.
But by the same token, Sean Carter played well again and the team-wide commitment to rebounding seems has made the Minutemen much better.
Freddie Riley and a healthier Ricky Harris would have helped. So I guess it's a lousy loss in the present, but still a sign of promise down the road.
Three stars
For every UMass men's basketball
game this season, I'll be giving out three stars to the top three
performers from the Minutemen and keeping track of who earns the most
three star points over the course of the season.
I'm putting a little extra weight on No. 1. So a No. 1 star is worth 5 points. A No. 2 is worth three and a No. 3 is worth 2.
Three Stars from UMass vs. BC
No. 1 - Anthony Gurley - With Harris struggling, Gurley had 23 points and 10 rebounds.
No. 2 - Sean Carter -His emergence has made UMass a totally different team on the glass. His 16 and nine were a bright spot.
No. 3 - Hashim Bailey -Before the season started I really wondered what kind of impact City would ever make at UMass. He had 10 rebounds in 11 minutes and is starting to show some offensive instincts. He needs to work on his free-throw shooting obviously, but he's clearly a usedful piece of this team.
Season-to-date points:

Hashim Bailey - 10
