Good sign for Gaffney?

The Lakers released Thomas Kelati, one of their other players whithout a guaranteed contract.

This may not actually help Gaffney at all, but few people thought they'd keep Gaffney and Kelati so this can't hurt his chances of making the Lakers.

My question is: What happens if the Lakers offer to sign him with the intention of allocating Gaffney to their D-League team, which is also in Los Angeles. Does he take that deal or go to Israel, where he has a fallback contract?
