Follow Friday - Sept. 11

Sean Gaudette (Hopkins Academy golfer)
With week one of my senior year in high school completed, I am certainly feeling mixed emotions.  While it is exciting to think about all positives associated with being a senior, it is also very humbling to realize that this was my last first week of high school, and my last season opening golf match ever.  Next year, I will be embark on a new chapter of my life, with these high school memories being just that--memories.

Leah Haake (Amherst Regional cross country)
Four days until our first race! As a team, everyone has been pushing themselves and each other. Usually we have three meets on our home course if we’re lucky — but this season we have FIVE!

Steph Slysz (Smith Academy field hockey)
My entire senior class off the top of my head: Lindsay, Kiersten, Luke, Shannen, Shannen, Nicole, Elaura, Abeni, Jackie, Jackie, Tabitha, Graydon, Megan, Megan, Mae, Chris, Brittany, Jeremiah, Caitlin, Jaimie, Jill, Ian, Max, Angie, Aris, Aaron, Katie, Stephen, Ally, Nick, Nick, Liz, Molly, Zack, Julia, Troy, Oliver, Davis.

Abby Majewski (Providence volleyball/Frontier grad)
Notched a solid win against Bucknell last weekend at the Marist tournament. Enjoying the new semester’s classes and looking forward to our matches at Lehigh this weekend!

Paul Norton (Brandeis cross country/Amherst Regional grad)

As I listen incessantly to a popular Kenyan pop song, I find myself feeling nostalgic about the time I spent there.   There is a certain charm to life there that the United States lacks.  Everything seems to turn into an adventure (sometimes an unintentional and unpleasant one). Nothing is urgent, everything is social, and people really understand what is important to them.  I miss that.

Molly Brooks (Northampton field hockey)
I’ve found that I’ve grown to respect more, the colleges that don’t require SAT’s. I believe it is a false measurement of one’s knowledge. Consider the famous geniuses in history: Einstein, Da Vinci, Socrates, Marie Curie. Do you think they were proficient in every subject?

Nicholas Rouzier (Villanova soccer/Amherst Regional grad)
Two games last week. Not great results, 2-1 lose vs. Temple, 0-0 vs. Penn. Weekend was enjoyable spending it with my parents. This weekend, Lafayette tournament, games vs. Binghamton on Friday and Fordham on Sunday.

Jamey Mercer (South Hadley boys soccer)

Great battle on opening night. we fell 2-0 to holyoke but showed much promise. Matt Crotty, Pat Dragon, and Connor Abert played extremely well for us. Holyoke is solid but we gave away two goals that were easily avoidable. SH will be fine.

Eddie Jewel (Monmouth Football/Amherst Regional grad)
First week of classes plus football it’s gonna be a long season lol.
