What's happening at Mobil?
Tuesday, March 18, 2008
Whenever a truck pulls into the boarded up Mobil station in the center, it's cause for speculation, if not concern.
Today there are some trucks from Environmental Services there, as they have been on occassion in past weeks.
A check with the building department says that no one has come in to get any kind of permits for the site...last time I called I was told that when you have oil tanks underground like that they have to be checked every once in a while to make sure they're not leaking...so that's likely what the trucks are doing there today.
The site is such a vital location in the center that everyone is on edge about what will end up there.
Time will tell..but I will keep an eye on those trucks, as will everyone else I imagine..

That's the one!
It has been closed up for at least a year now, and it's becoming a bit of a hangout for kids and their bikes...at least it's getting some use!
But we're still in good shape in Florence for car repair stuff. The guys who did the repairs at Mobil are still around (in a new location), plus we have Abba Motors right in the center, and you can't beat those guys!
thanks for checking in!

mobil station
Are we talking about the old "Johnny Berguet" station @ Main & Maple? I lived in Florence for the first 12 of my 65 years. I remember that station well, as
my father wouldn't take his car to anyone else. They were pretty good friends and used to talk quite a bit at the station if I remember correctly.
