Wednesday’s prep schools: Williston baseball qualifies for postseason

The Williston-Northampton baseball team pulled out a 10-9 win in eight innings to qualify for the postseason for the seventh straight year.

Erik Ostberg of Florence singled, stole second then scored on a Mike Thomson (Northampton) ground ball for the walk-off.

Adam Krol of Sunderland earned the win.

Ostberg finished with three hits, while JD Askin had two hits and two RBIs for Williston (8-6).


Williston 31, Stoneleigh Burnham 6 — Delaney Belinskas had four hits, four runs and three RBIs, while Meredith Peppes had three hits, including a home run, five runs and two RBIs as the Wildcats (5-6) rolled in Greenfield.

Boys lacrosse

Williston 20, Vermont 7 — Jack Shumway of South Hadley had three goals, while Danny Gould of Easthampton had one for the Wildcats.

Girls lacrosse

Williston 13, Gunnery 4 — Karly Simpson of South Hadley had six goals and two assists and Kirstyn Kruse had four goals as the Wildcats (15-0) won in Washington, Conn.

Maddie Hatch, Maggie Fitzgerald and Taylor Potasky each had one goal in the win, while Janelle Parker made three saves.

Boys golf

Deerfield 200, Westminster 214, Williston 228 — Dan Bridge of Worthington shot a 39 for the Wildcats (4-12-1) at Crumpin-Fox Golf Course in Bernardston.

Girls golf

Williston 5, Rectory 0 —Taylor Senecal of South Hadley and Allie Lewis of Hatfield each won their match as the Wildcats (6-4-3) won at Southampton Golf Course.
