Monday’s boys soccer: Derek McMahon nets hat trick for Smith Academy
Derek McMahon netted a hat trick and the Smith Academy boys soccer team posted its fifth straight shutout with a 4-0 win at Granby Monday afternoon.
Mat Sulda added one goal and two assists, while Nat Hanson had an assist for the Falcons (7-1-1).
Cameron Woodward made three saves, including a first-half stop on a penalty kick try.
Brett Sullivan had 10 saves for the Rams (3-3-2).
Hopkins Academy 3, Turners Falls 0 — Brennan Mitrolka had a goal and an assist as the Golden Hawks (7-0) stayed perfect with a home victory.
Patrick Knightly scored his first career varsity goal for Hopkins, while Tyler Szymkowicz added a tally. Connor Quinlin and Evan Delaney each picked up an assist.
Ben Pitta made seven saves for the shutout in goal.
Gateway Regional 0, Greenfield 0 — Mike Arel made three saves and the Gators (3-3-2) posted their fourth straight shutout at home.
Holyoke Catholic 3, Mahar Regional 1 — John O’Hara scored a pair of goals as the Gaels (5-3-2) won in Chicopee.
Trevor Lewicki added one goal, while Christiano Marconi and goalkeeper Tom Heavren (14 saves) were credited with an assist each.
Palmer 4, Easthampton 0 — Brady Parker made 12 saves for the Eagles (1-6-1, 1-4 Schmid) in the loss at home.
Sabis 5, Frontier Regional 2 — Chad Parent and Matt Byrne each scored for the Red Hawks (0-7-1, 0-5 Schmid) in the loss at home.
Manny Munir was credited with an assist on Byrne’s conversion.
Shawn Mazur-Garcia and Dylan Husted combined for seven saves.
