Eleven-term incumbent state Rep. Stephen Kulik, who is seeking re-election to his 1st Franklin District seat in Tuesday’s election, maintains that even though he has risen to a leadership position on Beacon Hill, “Small town and rural values are at the heart of every decision that I make.” Kulik, 64, served for 11 years as a Select Board member in Worthington and was president of the Massachusetts Selectmen’s Association and the Massachusetts Municipal Association before being elected to the House in 1993 to represent what is a 19-town district including Chesterfield, Cummington, Goshen, Huntington, Middlefield, Plainfield, Williamsburg, Worthington, Deerfield, Leverett, Shutesbury, Sunderland and Whately.
