CPA forum on tap Monday in Westhampton
The second of two public forums on a proposed Community Preservation Act ballot item that town voters will decide next month is scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall on South Road.
Sponsored by the Open Space Committee, which supports the CPA measure, the forum will present information on how a CPA fund created by a 3 percent surcharge on property taxes, will be used for open space, recreation, historical preservation and affordable housing projects in Westhampton.
If voters approve Question No. 5 on the ballot on Nov. 6, Westhampton will join 148 other communities across the state that have adopted CPAs, making them eligible for state matching funds. Among them are Northampton, Easthampton, Southampton and Goshen.
For details about the forum, call the town office at 527-0463.
