Amherst gardening store to close

The store, established in the 1980s by Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture founder Annie Cheatham, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week until Sept. 29, after which it expects to be open only Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m. as long as inventory lasts.

Starting Saturday, all items will be marked down between 25 and 70 percent, Phaneuf said.

The official closing date will be announced once all of the inventory is sold.

Sad about Annies - FYI - This story is linked to by http://www.dailyjobcuts.com/ which is a great national website with links to articles about layoffs and closings. Its worth checking daily to see how the Obama economy is doing, which is to say, not too good. This article is on the right under closings for Sep 13th. If your interested - heres an article about the previous owners of Annies and the DOMA Supreme Court case from the Recorder (not sure if it will work since the Recorder has a paid subsciption wall like gazettenet). http://www.recorder.com/news/nation/world/5554715-95/for-gay-couples-doma-court-case-about-fairness
