Summer baseball: Easthampton Post 224 beats Amherst Post 148 for first win

Adam Krol threw a complete game with five strikeouts as American Legion Easthampton Post 224 earned its first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Amherst Post 148 Wednesday in Easthampton.

Brandon Weyant went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Austin Crow had two hits and scored a run for Post 224 (1-3).

Asher Young struck out six in a complete-game loss for Post 148 (1-2). Justin Carey had a single, two stolen bases and two runs.

King & Cushman 2, West Springfield 0 — Northampton Post 28 scored twice in the top of the first for the game’s only runs.

David Longstreeth went the distance in his first Legion start for K&C (1-1). He struck out nine, walked two and worked around three hits and two errors.

Mike Molloy led off the game with a single, stole second and scored on Zach Goodwin-Boyd’s single. Longstreeth followed with a fly to right that was dropped for an error, allowing Goodwin-Boyd to score.

Pettengill Insurance 4, Agawam 3 — Mike Paleologopolous drove in three runs including two on an RBI double in the fifth as Post 260 improved to 4-1.

Matt Beauchemin added an RBI on a sacrifice fly to help his own cause. He struck out two, walked two and allowed six hits in the complete-game win. Tom Spring added two bunt singles and scored for Pettengill.

East Springfield 14, Belchertown 0 — Max Humphrey and Andrew Davidsohn each had a hit in the shutout home loss for Post 239 (0-5).
