Weekend Planner — Music: Steampunk music, Springfield Armory National Historic Site
Both in conjunction with the New England Steampunk Meetup (a monthly gathering of steampunks held at sites throughout New England) and as the culminating event of the exhibit “Steampunk Springfield Armory: Reimagining Our Nation’s Weaponry” (on view through Sept. 28), the Springfield Armory National Historic Site is hosting a musical extravaganza Saturday. Running noon to 5 p.m., the concert will feature the steampunk ensembles Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band and Eli August and The Abandoned Buildings (pictured) plus other fantastical entertainers. The free event will be held behind the Springfield Armory Museum and moves indoors at Springfield Technical Community College if it rains. Bring a chair or blanket to enjoy a picnic supper. Prizes awarded for the best costume.
