Police struggle with allegedly intoxicated man blocking traffic — and other area police news
■David Laprade, 25, of 2 Russellville Road, Southampton, was arrested at 5:42 p.m. Monday on Park Street on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police said they were responding to calls about an intoxicated man on Park Street when he stumbled into the road, causing traffic to stop, and then struggled when officers tried to arrest him.
■Police investigated three reports Sunday that unlocked vehicles parked on Chestnut, Mutter and Holyoke streets were broken into sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning. An mp3 player, a cellphone, change and an antique table valued at $400 were allegedly taken.
■Petrina Elaine Hahn, 44, of Holyoke, was arrested at the police station at 5:15 p.m. Sunday on a charge of assault and battery on a person 60 or over with injury after coming to the station to speak with police about an earlier incident at a North Sycamore Knolls residence where police had been called for a report of a disturbance.
■A South Hadley woman reported at 1:41 p.m. Sunday finding $1,500 in unauthorized charges to her Macy’s credit card.
■A 23-year-old Belchertown man was uninjured when he struck a guardrail after swerving to avoid a deer on Amherst Road (Route 116) at 3:28 a.m. Sunday. The accident caused extensive damage to the vehicle, police said.
■A Hillside Avenue resident reported at 12:56 p.m. Oct. 3 that his wallet was stolen from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked at his residence overnight.
■Amy Lee Bennett, 37, of Holyoke, was arrested on Bridge Street at 11:35 p.m. Sept. 30 on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, possessing a Class E drug (hydrocodone), possessing a Class B drug (oxycodone), possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.
