Forum set for Monday on zoning proposal in South Hadley
SOUTH HADLEY — South Hadley will host a public forum Monday to discuss 10 changes to the town’s zoning bylaws proposed by the Planning Board.
Members of the board will answer questions about the revisions which will be voted on at a special Town Meeting June 19 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium.
Some of the changes affect special permits, site plan review and regulations on multi-family development, said Town Planner Richard Harris.
According to the proposals, applicants for special permits will now also have to comply with submission requirements and certain approval criteria for site plan review.
The changes also include imposing regulations for multi-family development, he said.
In addition, there are new definitions for some zoning terms such as affordable housing and new residential use classifications with specifics about whether these classifications are allowed by right, by site plan review, or by special permit. It will also eliminate the requirement that all flexible developments be subject to a special permit, said Harris.
The revisions also provide for the creation of a South Hadley Falls Overlay District, which Harris said will provide more options for development in that part of town.
