Easthampton’s Joseph Coleman powers Elms College men’s soccer team
Sophomore Joseph Coleman of Easthampton had a goal and an assist as the third-seeded Elms College men’s soccer team beat No. 6 Southern Vermont College in the quarterfinals of the NECC tournament, Wednesday in Chicopee.
The Blazers (9-7-2) will play No. 2 Mitchell College in the semifinals Friday in New London, Conn.
Women’s soccer
Elms 2, Mitchell 0 — Hannah Spring of South Hadley scored once as the No. 3 Blazers (8-9-2) won in the quarterfinals of the NECC tournament in Chicopee.
Elms will play No. 2 Regis in the semifinal Friday in Weston.
Field hockey
Wellesley 3, Mount Holyoke 2 — Angelica Pascual and Sarah LaQuerre each scored a goal but the Lyons (7-10) ended their season with a road loss in the quarterfinal round of the NEWMAC tournament
Emma Ross (six saves) and Anne O’Byrne (five saves) shared time in net in defeat.
Keene State 7, Salem State 2 — Michaela Boyer of South Hadley made 12 saves but the Vikings (9-9) fell in the quarterfinal round of the Little East tournament, ending their season.
