Thursday’s downhill skiing: Frontier’s Sean Doyle finishes second in PVIAC slalom

Frontier Regional’s Sean Doyle finished second overall in the PVIAC boys slalom ski race Thursday at Berkshire East in Charlemont.

Doyle posted a time of 36.82 seconds for the Red Hawks. Greg Lerner (fifth, 38.36) and Jon Simonds (10th, 40.43) of Amherst Regional had top-10 showings, as did Austin Herman (sixth, 38.41) of Gateway Regional and Charles Denhart (eighth, 39.38) of Northampton.

The Northampton girls team won the South Division for the fourth straight meet in Thursday’s giant slalom.

Lucy Sloan was the top finisher for Hamp in 14th at 28.71.

Amherst’s Margaret O’Connell had the best performance of any local girl, coming in fifth overall at 27.24.
